First day of winter. Went in the spa.
Today's max was 19C. In the spa it was 39C. I was getting so hot in the spa that I actually got out and wandered around outside to cool down. ME!! Who freezes when it gets below 24C.
It was niiiice. I was expecting to reluctantly get out and make a mad dash to the shower but I wasn't cold! Lovely.
Now Matt and I are going out to dinner at Padbury's. I remember when that building was just a shop full of old junk. Now it's all done up and fancy.
Food review tonight or tomorrow morning. :)
I think that heat has given me a vague headache tho... gads.

Padbury's Restaurant - Guildford
Jun. 1st, 2003 08:57 pmI remember when I was a kid and my Nanna lived in the house just near it. The building was just a jumble store, the windows were full of dusty old broken junk. Apparently once upon a time upstairs was a whorehouse (I did a project on Guildford in high school so I'm rather well versed on some of the old buildings around there). The brickwork is similar to Flemish Bond, but not, it's weird. Apparently the building was slightly damaged in the Meckering quake.
Now it's been all cleaned up and has a few boutique stores in it and Padbury's restaurant (the entire building has always been known as Padbury's, the guy that either built or first owned it was called Padbury.)
The garlic bread serving was small, but the bread was really thick and garlicky, mmmm.
I got the seafood paella. I even ate some of the chorizo sausage tho really it was too hot for me. There were bits of chicken in it, chorizo, mussels (teeny weeny mussels, not very impressive), big prawns and SCALLOPS!!! LOTS AND LOTS of BIG SCALLOPS!!! *is in heaven*. I adore scallops so that just made the meal for me. Towards the end I struggled but I managed to get it all in.
I wish I had the money and non-dietness to try a bunch of the desserts, they looked sooo goood! I think I'll just have some lite honeycomb icecream instead (Cadbury's, it tastes pretty much just like their Crunchie ice cream but half the fat and half the price, it's all good!)
Matt got the "Aquatic Steak" (surf & turf). He asked for medium but some of it was still pretty rare, not that Matt cares. He couldn't eat the whole thing and has the rarest bit in a doggie bag aside for breakfast tomorrow. The bernaise sauce on the steak was niiice and he also assures me that the potatoes were really good.
Now I am home again with a vague wisdom headache *ugh*. Should take some Tylenol for it. Back in my trakkie daks and ugg boots, much more warm and comfy. I think I'll go down to watch TV with Matt and eat ice cream.
