Heh, this monitor has a rectangle burned into it. Clever, I thought newer monitors didn't get that.

Anyway, what I really wanted to post about are what I just saw outside.

I was walking up between the Lonregan building and that other building (Science & Computing? I know they do a lot of geology work there) and I heard pardalotes. Nothing too unsual, there are tall gum trees around and I looked up to try and find them. The calling was pretty loud however and I could have sworn it came from the building, which was weird. Then I saw a little bird perched on the roof edge. I would have figured it for a swallow but it had a short tail (even shorter than a tree martin), couldn't see the markings due to light and distance. Then another small, almost tailess bird joined it and called. Then they flitted off together. They were a pair of pardalotes! On the building. I have never seen that before, usually they're going out of their way to disguise themselves in high treetops.

Spring has certainly sprung. I'm noticing pairs of birds a lot more. The pardalotes were one example. I'm also seeing heaps of black-faced cuckoo shrikes paired up. I have a soft spot for cuckoo shrikes, they're just cool.

Now I print my essay and hand it in. :)
