Well, so far so good.

Intro to Envrio. Science

First year, piss easy.  I've also heard the exam is a cinch.
(Peter) Dingle is the co-ordinator and lecturer so far.  He's a little eccentric but he's one of those truly genuine people (that's TWO I've met this year, the other was Mirella, the woman doing the job search training).  He cares about what he's talking about and he rants and raves and I sit there and AGREE with everything he says.  It's amazing.  Everyone should have attended this morning's lecture.  Then maybe we'd all stop being a bunch of depressed zombies and actually SEE the world and experience it and ENJOY it!
And I've chosen my essay topic and already written a page of notes.  *shock*
One 8 hour field trip from Woodman Point to Gosnells.  That should be interesting.  Some transect surveying down near Murdoch Swamp, done it before, but field work is always good.

Envrionmental Restoration

This started with a powerpoint presentation of images of degraded and non-degraded land choreographed to Livin' On  A Prayer.  Cute.
The unit co-ordinator seems pretty cool and has a sense of humour (attested by his showing us a photo of him pulling a face at a wax figure of John Howard).
Lots of field trips for this one.  Had one today at Piney Lakes and I didn't have my binoculars.  Didn't see anything exciting anyway.  Best I heard was a pardalote and a gerygone and maybe a wren.  NOTHING on the water.

Must remember the binos for other field trips. :)  I have a forte now, birdies.
