Probably a little disappointed.

I'm not earning loads of money doing a dream job.
I haven't travelled around the world.
I haven't won lotto.
I'm not living in a nice house that I own.

I wonder if any of those things will ever happen.

It costs money.
To get money need job.
Job takes time.
To travel takes time that is currently being taken up by job.

Here we have our dilemma.

Start small! My first OS trip was Europe for 5 weeks, cycle touring/camping. I did that as a Uni student. I was on Youth Allowance and can't even remember if I had a job at the time. Next trip was Thailand for 3 weeks - stayed with a friend for one of those weeks... I was a level 2 in the public service then... so still not much money... next one was NZ for two weeks... the one after that Nepal for 5 weeks... and then China for 2 weeks... Nepal was the most expensive cos we were with a trekking group... they were all done using annual leave.

I'd love to get around to just driving around Australia (I haven't done the top end, QLD or Tassie yet.) But I've even struggled to find the time and money to just get back to Broome. Had to be content with Shark Bay for the time being.

My main overseas goal is a two week birding tour of Costa Rica, that'll cost me around $10,000.00. I don't even have that much to my name yet, and I need $5,000.00 of what I do have to pay off the bedroom suite.

Then I'd love to do Africa (Tanzania/Kenya/Uganda mainly). The U.S. and U.K. are also high priorities.

Would love to get to NZ too. Most of S.E. Asia is lower on the priorities. I did get to Malaysia in 2006 (my first and only trip overseas), but I wasn't working at the time and could only afford it because mum paid for my flight and hotel.

also, check out couchsurfing.org.... :) I think Africa is the kind of trip I will do when I am old and debt free.

US & UK you just have to get there, you would be pretty well catered for on couchsurfing. NZ isn't expensive, since their dollar is cheep...

Fly to tassie, you can do tassie in a week ;) heh I would like to go back to Tas since we only spent a long weekend there. Very nice place. :)

I have rellies in Tassie now so that's on the agenda for soon. Looks like we'll be doing Adelaide for Christmas, but I'm already out of leave for this year - I only get two weeks apart from the enforced Christmas Break. It sucks. I hate my job.

I thought 4 weeks a year was compulsory?
