Just an idle thought

The U.S. is overdue for another presidential assasination...

I was actually discussing this with my housemates last night.

[identity profile] jakie-em.livejournal.com 2004-11-02 03:45 pm (UTC)(link)
be patient... at least wait until after this election to find out how badly it is needed

[identity profile] gemfyre.livejournal.com 2004-11-02 03:55 pm (UTC)(link)
Well of course.

I would vote no confidence myself. Wanted to do the same in the Oz elections.

[identity profile] gemfyre.livejournal.com 2004-11-02 03:55 pm (UTC)(link)
woe is being an anarchist.

[identity profile] jakie-em.livejournal.com 2004-11-03 01:09 am (UTC)(link)
but if you voted no confidence we could never get howard out... we couldn't anyway but...

BTW if Bush was assasinated they would make him a martyr the same way they did with the lying, cheating weakwilled kennedy.

[identity profile] gemfyre.livejournal.com 2004-11-03 05:05 am (UTC)(link)
I was rather fond of Kennedy.

Like Clinton - people concentrated too much on his personal life which had nothing to do with how he was running the country.

People think that Reagan surviving the assassination attempt broke the cycle.

Good thing you're not in the States, btw. The FBI would be knocking on your door as we speak ^_~

[identity profile] berrytown.livejournal.com 2004-11-02 04:28 pm (UTC)(link)
I heard something about that it only counts for presidents that have been chosen by the people and Bush wasn't really because the counting went wrong?
I dunno THAT much about it.
Between how many presidents did it happen?
There was a differance about how they where chosen the ones that did not died while they where supposedly next.

I should ask that woman who said something like this how she ment it exactly.

[identity profile] sternenglanz.livejournal.com 2004-11-02 04:52 pm (UTC)(link)
It's a twenty-year cycle. Presidents elected in a year ending in 0 have a history of dying while in office.

William Henry Harrison - Elected 1840; died of pneumonia on April 4, 1841.
Abraham Lincoln - Elected 1860; assassinated on April 16, 1865.
James Garfield - Elected 1880; assassinated on September 19, 1881.
William McKinley - Elected 1900; assassinated on September 14, 1901.
Warren G. Harding - Elected 1920; died of a stroke on August 2, 1923.
Franklin D. Roosevelt - Elected 1940; died of a cerebral hemorrhage on April 12, 1945.
John F. Kennedy - Elected 1960; assassinated on November 22, 1963.
Ronald Reagan - Elected 1980; survived assassination attempt on March 30, 1981.
George W. Bush - Named president 2000; choked on pretzel on January 13, 2002?

[identity profile] abigail-always.livejournal.com 2004-11-02 06:28 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh yes, the pretzel of infamy.

[identity profile] blue-cat.livejournal.com 2004-11-02 11:21 pm (UTC)(link)
Hum, I checked wikipedia and the election years were not actually -0's.

where did you get your dates from? I'll have alook at mine.

[identity profile] aequanoctis.livejournal.com 2004-11-02 04:40 pm (UTC)(link)
Ya BET!

[identity profile] firvulag.livejournal.com 2004-11-02 06:25 pm (UTC)(link)
I think we need at least a double assasination. kill both the primary party choices, then see them make a real decision

[identity profile] sammmmmmmmm.livejournal.com 2004-11-02 07:28 pm (UTC)(link)
It's very weird how gun happy the US is... or seems to be.

[identity profile] stawberi.livejournal.com 2004-11-03 12:15 am (UTC)(link)
Dangerous thing to say, darls. Won't say I disagree, but still.

Disclaimer: Nuhuh, not me, I don't want to kill any presidents.

[identity profile] gemfyre.livejournal.com 2004-11-03 12:36 am (UTC)(link)
Hah.

Like I could orchestrate something like that.

I'm almost too lazy to go do my volunteer work at RSPCA!

[identity profile] stawberi.livejournal.com 2004-11-04 01:54 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah. I just feel sorry for that American chick who got reported to the FBI.

[identity profile] synique.livejournal.com 2004-11-03 12:24 am (UTC)(link)
that's really a horrible thing to say - wishing death on someone?

[identity profile] shadowshifter.livejournal.com 2004-11-03 02:14 am (UTC)(link)
not really much point. something bad enough to warrant removing him from office in major disgrace never able to return would suffice i think. that way he dont get martyred. people remember the strangest (and usually the most inappropriate) things.

[identity profile] stawberi.livejournal.com 2004-11-04 01:57 pm (UTC)(link)
Oooh oooh. I vote that someone somehow make him gay. It might not stop him being president, but it would be damn funny.
