I had the mistaken impression that birding would be a cheap hobby.

To get the binoculars, scope, eyepiece and tripod I want will cost me about $10,000.

We've spent about $1000 with the telescope initially then got some more eyepieces & other accessories. Become a member of AGWA at BTOW in Mt Hawthorn & I think you get discounts there. Plus there's the group on the first Tuesday of every month...

But then I'd have to go to Africa, which would cost a packet anyway, and I'd inevitably want to birdwatch over there too - bringing me back to my initial problem.
