I really need to learn how to make my own bread. Any suggestions?

Buy a breadmaker with an instruction book. ;)

I was lucky enough to be lent one by a friend.

Smartass! :P

My mom was actually thinking about getting us one for christmas. Then we discovered a friend of ours actually made it by hand. I'm VERY impressed.

I have made beer bread by hand. But the loaves are always small and oddly shaped.

The breadmaker makes much larger, neater loaves that can actually be used for sandwiches and stuff.

HMMM maybe I should invest in one. I think they're like $50. That's what I wanted to make bread for. We're big sandwich people, and as we all know...American bread is ass!

$50, wow.

Breadmakers are around $100Au for the cheaper models.
