Too domestic

Why is housework like watering the garden and doing the washing and cooking dinner sooooooooooo much more attractive than working on my two major assignments that are due in a week. One which I've almost finished and one which I've barely started?

It's just relaxing doing the housework, the uni stuff just annoys me and makes my brain hurt and my eyes go bleary.

Heh, it's called your timewaster, according to a lecturer I once had at TAFE.

You know you have big scary assignment due, and you should be doing it, but you really don't want to, so instead of lounging on your ass doing nothing, and consequently feeling guilty and shitty for not working on that assignment you *know* you need to be working... you do stuff like clean the house. Stuff that needs to be done, so that when you think "ah, shit, I haven't done that assignment!" you can justify it to yourself with "the house needs cleaning anyway, I'm not just slacking off." Thereby eliminating the guilt of assignment avoidance, but still accomplishing the actual avoidance part quite nicely.
