Mickey the Eagle

Mickey the wedgetailed eagle is still at Caversham Wildlife Park. He's such a showoff. He was strutting up and down the front of his cage. And the idiots at Caversham have roos in the enclousure right next to him and there is only 1 fence separating them, no buffer area or anything. Roos get too close to the edge of the enclosure and Mickey decides he wants roo steaks for lunch and flies down and tries to grab them. Probably scares the bejeezus out of the poor roos. Yet another reason I find Caversham dodgy.

bejeezus

Do these birds live in the Western Australian outback? I remember seeing a number of these (or something very similar)during a trip from Perth to Newman.

These (if its the same) are *huge* birds, and several were in the process of tearing apart a 'roo carcass near the side of the road (Gt. Northern Hwy).

Yep, that's them.

Roadkill seems to have become their favourite food.

What type of eagle is it?

Wedge-tailed (actually says that at the start of the post).

Most common (and largest) eagle in Australia. You often see them feeding on roadkill.
