Apparently KK has sold the joint. Perhaps it will still run as a pub under new ownership (hopefully someone who can sing better than KK), or maybe it will become accountants offices or something.

Anyways, the last night of celebrations is the 21st of December. The usual 8-midnight session. It should be chokkers, but that's okay, hopefully lots of the old regulars will make a showing.

I guess I should decide on one good song to do if karaoke is happening, because I probably won't get more than one song.

And for peeps on Facebook - the event is here - http://www.facebook.com/event.php?eid=6593103226&ref=nf

Why does no-one ever come to karaoke anymore? It makes me sad.

Friday was really good too, you all missed out. Norbert is apparently on holiday so we got some woman called Joy. Joy had the hugest song list I have ever seen and played the cornet and tamborine, as well as being all around friendly. And we got around 4 songs each. AND the overall quality of the singers was surprisingly good.

I'm tempted to find a Saturday night place (Guildford Hotel or other) for next time I'm in Perth, seeing as I'm running low on time in lieu so Friday's aren't so easy to manage right now - who's in? And where at? I just want to sing (and show off a little) dammit.

And for you musical types - you know when you're singing along to something and you hit the high note and sometimes there's this wavering sound? What does that mean? That you nailed the note or that you screwed it or something else? I can memorise music and sing in tune, but I can't read music and I have no idea what all the musical terms mean exactly.

Must be something about Tiny Dancer. I've only had the opportunity to sing it twice (Norbert doesn't have it, so I've only sung it from other KJs lists).

First time I sang it I got invited to participate in the karaoke contest at Sorrento. I didn't get far but it was something.

I do the song tonight at Guildford. First I get an invite to compete in "Telethon Idol" (Sarah did too). $5 donation to Telethon as entry, chance to win from a $10,000 prize pool. May as well give it a shot. That's Thursday night at 7:30 at the Guildford Hotel.

Second, around 11:30 they announce the nightly prizes. Some guy wins the second prize of a dinner for two at some restaurant. My name is called up for first prize (!!!). I won $100. Sweet. Sarah won the $100 the first night we checked out Guildford. The place doesn't have the atmosphere of KK's, but it DOES have prizes.

Now to decide what to sing next Thursday. Heh, I probably should do Tiny Dancer.

Last night I sang Teen Spirit (after Desperado of all things). It was amusing. :) I'm tempted to keep doing and sing all of Kurt's alternate lyrics/stylings, then move on to versions by the likes of Tori Amos and Weird Al Yankovic.

My boots also rocked. They are surprisingly comfy for fashion shoes.

1. You practice songs in the car. And sometimes refuse to do them unless you're well in practice.
2. You have a signature song.
3. You've had at least 20 signature songs in your karaoke "career".
4. You don't understand people that say, "I'd have to be so drunk to get up there."
5. You worry when your voice starts getting raspy from yelling and breathing in smoke.
6. You've gotten the "Ole, ole ole ole" from the regulars.
7. You criticise your performances and others, and even ask for criticism from others.
8. You've sung Holy Grail and/or Throw Your Arms Around me.
9. Multiple times.
10. It really shits you when people get up and sound like they have never heard the song they are singing before (and it's a really popular song).
11. You prefer to sing obscurities over crowd pleasers.
12. If you miss a few weeks you find yourself itching to get back.
13. You are a "regular".
14. You've sung first song of the night.
15. You've sung last song of the night.
16. You've been given the above or even two songs in a row because the KJ needs to get the crowd going somehow.
17. You get all stroppy if you get less than 2 songs.
18. You have a reserved table at the bar.
19. You call up and reserve your songs early, because you might be late.
20. You ALWAYS get at least one song, no matter how late you are, because the KJ knows you.
21. You've been in a karaoke competetion.
22. You grew to love a song via karaoke, before you even heard it on the radio.
23. You're more used to karaoke versions than the original versions.
24. You think some karaoke versions are BETTER than the originals. (ala John's Thunderstruck)
25. You hear a song on the radio that's often performed at karaoke and go, "No, you're singing it wrong!"

Feel free to add more.

And a question for Nurse Ryan. NSAIDS - do they actually help it heal up, or do they just take away the pain?

I sang You'll Never Walk Alone. Even though it's the wrong version and a drunk KK jumped up and sang too, it was okay.

Norbert FINALLY has One by U2. I went squee and promptly sang it.

And... later I discovered that he has... The Remedy! OMG. So I did that, and despite my hearing and ears being screwed, I didn't totally fuck it up! *shocked*

Hrm, Matt wants to go to bed (I'm currently sitting on it). So I'll do "How to tell you are addicted to karaoke" tomorrow.

Is anyone doing karaoke tonight?

I am so desperate to sing "You'll Never Walk Alone".

I'm working tonight until 9, as is Matt - however, he has to pick me up in the city. So if I'm in the mood and convince him we'll drop in for one song or something.

Back from South Australia (very pleasant trip).
Healthy again.
Which means I want to do karaoke tomorrow.
Anyone else doing the same?

You Have a Phlegmatic Temperament

Mild mannered and laid back, you take life at a slow pace.
You are very consistent - both in emotions and actions.
You tend to absorb set backs easily. You are cool and collected.

It is difficult to offend you. You can remain composed and unemotional.
You are a great friend and lover. You don't demand much of others.
While you are quiet, you have a subtle wit that your friends know well.

At your worst, you are lazy and unwilling to work at anything.
You often get stuck in a rut, without aspirations or dreams.
You can get too dependent on others, setting yourself up for abandonment.

Even though I really want to go, I'm thinking I may give karaoke the skip this week. My mouth really needs to move as little as possible and heal up.

Which means I won't be back for 3 weeks. But in the meantime I shall practice and rawk when I return. :p

Who's going tonight?
When are you arriving?

I won't be here the next two weeks. Yay South Australia!
